Google licenses data-reading contact lenses to Novartis

Google smart lens

The world of connected body data is upon us, as news came out overnight that Google has struck a deal to license connected contact lenses that read your body data to pharma giant Novartis. The deal is huge. It paves the way for technology such as this ‘smart lens’ which transmits data on bodily fluids, that can warn on glucose levels for example, through to Google via your phone or computer to become mainstream. Smart plasters, patches and implants have also been well-documented, so we should expect many more deals like this between the software and pharmaceuticals giants to come in the near future.
